Why UNIT Work

Built around protected work.

UNIT Work is a marketplace where the same profile can hire today and work tomorrow. The defining difference is escrow: accepted payment is protected on Unit Network while the job is active.

Network & account

Talent · Messages · Earnings · Profile

One profile, both roles. There is no separate employer account. The same profile can post a job and apply for one.
Hire

From brief to payment.

A complete employer journey: post the work, choose who does it, protect the budget in escrow, review delivery and release payment.

Step 01

Post a job.

From Jobs, select Post a job. Give the job a clear title, a detailed scope, the professional occupation, up to 10 skills, a payment model, payment asset and budget.

Jobs page showing Post a job
Job payment and budget fields
Posting costs nothing. Money only moves when you hire someone. The budget is a target; the amount actually escrowed is the accepted bid.
Step 02

Review applications.

Applications appear on the job page. Read the proposal first, then open the profile to check the work score, finished jobs and relevant experience. Use the bid as one factor, not the only factor.

Applications on a UNIT Work job
Look for evidence they understood the actual brief.
Message your shortlist before committing.
Decline applications that are clearly not a fit.
Step 03

Hire — and fund escrow.

Select Hire on the application you want. Once confirmed, the accepted bid leaves your wallet and moves into escrow, the job becomes In progress, other applications close and a job conversation opens.

Hire action on an application
Hiring is a commitment. Once escrow is funded, the employer cannot simply pull the money back. Ending the job requires an agreed cancellation or a dispute.
Step 04

Set milestones when needed.

Milestone jobs must be split into stages. Each milestone needs a title, amount and a clear definition of what “done” means. The milestone amounts must add up to the escrowed total.

Milestone setup workspace
Two to four milestones works well for most projects. Keep the first one concrete enough to prove the working relationship early.
Step 05

Review what gets delivered.

When work is submitted, the job shows that it is ready for review. Check the freelancer’s note, links and deliverables, then either Approve & release or Request revision.

Work ready for review
Review submission modal
Request revision keeps the escrow in place and sends the work back with your notes. There is no limit on revisions.
Step 06

Approve and release payment.

Approval is final. UNIT Work shows one last confirmation with the exact figure to be released. After approval, the milestone is marked approved and the escrow balance decreases.

Approve and release payment confirmation
Approved milestone and updated escrow
When the last milestone is approved, the job becomes Completed. Both sides leave the engagement with a reputation record.
Hourly

Hourly jobs follow a rhythm.

1Freelancer logs hours and a work note.
2Employer reviews each time report.
3Approve & pay releases funds for that report.
4Top up escrow before the balance runs dry.
5End the job when no more time will be billed.
Money

See the whole picture.

The Earnings page shows net, earned, spent and in escrow, plus escrow allocation, job performance and CSV export.

Work

Win the job. Deliver. Get paid.

Your path as a worker starts with a credible profile and ends when approved funds leave escrow and reach you.

Step 01

Build a profile worth hiring.

Employers filter quickly. Your professional title and level, tagline, about section, skills, hourly rate, availability and links all help them decide whether to continue reading.

UNIT Work freelancer profile
Your résumé is private by default. It is shared only with an employer you apply to.
Your work score has to be earned. Completed engagements improve it; cancellations and disputes weigh on it. Early scores are provisional.
Step 02

Find work worth applying for.

Open Jobs and switch to Explore. Each card shows the payment type, budget, application count and how recently the job was posted.

Explore open jobs
Fresh jobs with low application counts are often the best opportunity.
Check the client profile and hiring history.
Read the payment model before planning your time.
Step 03

Send a proposal that proves you read the brief.

Use the proposal to restate the problem in your own words, explain your approach, show one piece of relevant proof and state what happens next. Then enter your bid.

Apply to this job panel
Applying costs nothing. Your money is never involved. If you are hired, it is the employer’s payment that moves into escrow.
Step 04

Track your pipeline.

The Proposals page shows every job you applied to and whether it is pending, accepted or closed. Pending proposals can still be withdrawn.

Application submitted state
Sent proposals pipeline
Step 05

Work from the job workspace.

Once hired, the Work tab becomes your operating view. Escrow & Payment confirms the money is there; Project progress shows what is next; Messages keeps the job conversation tied to the engagement.

Freelancer job workspace
Step 06

Submit so approval is easy.

For each submission, mark whether it is the first submission or a revision, add up to 10 labelled deliverable links and include a short note saying what changed and what the employer should check.

Submit work dialog
Make approving the easy option. A labelled link plus a concise review note removes ambiguity and speeds up payment.
Step 07

Get paid.

When the employer approves, the money is released from escrow immediately, minus the 5% platform fee. A 600 UNITCOIN milestone pays 570 UNITCOIN.

Protect

Use the paper trail first.

Messages, cancellations and disputes are designed to keep the job history visible and the escrow rules predictable.

Messages

One conversation per job.

UNIT Work adds system messages for the moments that matter: hired, milestones defined, work submitted, approved and paid, cancellation proposed and dispute opened.

UNIT Work job conversation
Agree scope and timings in the thread. It is timestamped and visible to both sides, making it the most useful evidence if memories differ later.
Cancellation

Try cancellation before escalation.

If both sides broadly agree that the job should stop, propose a split of the remaining escrow. The other side can accept or decline. If accepted, the split happens immediately and the job closes.

No deposit. No freeze. No fee on the refund.
Dispute

Escalate only when you genuinely cannot agree.

A dispute freezes the job and its escrow until it resolves. The claimant provides a statement and evidence. Either side can propose a split and the other side can accept.

UNIT Work dispute settlement view
A dispute holds a deposit from the claimant’s balance. The guide states that the deposit is returned in full when the dispute is decided, win or lose.

On hourly jobs, a batch of hours submitted for approval.

A reputation score out of 100 based on finished engagements.

Common questions

Can I change the payment model after posting?

No. Fixed, Milestone and Hourly are set at posting. Cancel and repost if you chose the wrong one before hiring anyone.

Does it cost anything to post or apply?

No. Money only moves when an employer hires. Posting and applying are free.

Can an employer take the money back after hiring?

Not unilaterally. They can propose a cancellation that the other side must accept, or raise a dispute, which freezes the escrow.

Can a payment be reversed after approval?

No. Release is final and immediate. Review the work before approval.

How many revisions can be requested?

The guide states there is no limit. Each revision keeps the escrow in place while the work is returned with notes.

Who sees my résumé?

Only an employer you have applied to. It is not shown publicly.

I lost my password or PIN. Can support reset it?

No. Neither is stored by Unit; they are combined to rebuild your keys at sign-in.
